Mackerels Day Out

Following catch of three different sized Mackerel from a kayak off Branscombe August 2017, and shortly after enjoyed at supper, without regret.

Mackerels Day Out

Once upon a time on a hot summer's afternoon the Mackerel family went out for a swim. There was Daddy Mac, Mummy Mac, and Baby Mac. Junior Mac, recovering from Maculitis, stayed at home, being kept an eye on by a good neighbour.

Round and round they went and on and on passing fish, and all manner of amazing sea creatures both large and small, swimming the pathways of the sea.

Soon getting hungry Daddy Mac said, 'Here we go son, follow me and we'll catch some tea'. Coming in on the tide, white bait were favourites and soon Mummy Mac had some in her sights. They zoomed in on a fresh current and bit upon their unsuspecting prey. Suddenly, that was it, rather than the taste of juicy flesh, they all found themselves viciously hooked and drawn through the waves on a fishing line.

Later that evening they found themselves someone’s satisfying supper, fresh juicy flesh done to a turn.

Back home Junior Mac began to worry and wonder at their non return, soon he would be adopted into a new family.

And that is that and that is life- bad things can happen to good fish, things change in a moment so, carpe diem -seize the fish!
