Between The Tides

Isn't it good to slow down, right down, take time. Rock pooling at West Beach Branscombe July 2022.

Between The Tides

Between the tides beadlet, strawberry and snake locks anemones display in shoreline glassy rock pools heated by the sun.

Wracks and weeds of green, red and brown hue sway in rivulets like medusa's trusses flowing locks as sea approaches.

Slow down, look, transparent prawns appear patroling and grazing, coin size crabs don't want to be disturbed thank you as they scurry for cover from carefully turned stones.

The black worm pipefish pipes up before slinking away, doesn't want to slip down the throat of a feathered feeder. The common blenny not so common today, and starfish too shy, maybe next time.

Meanwhile limpets, winkles, mussels and topshell relax in the sun row upon row on their rocky deckchairs enjoying the moment; they know what's coming.

Ebbing, flowing, searching, filling, all-consuming oxygen, mineral, plankton laden water. Sucking, swashing, thumping, crashing, all take cover under rocks wracks and weeds, feeding, refreshing, and waiting..... life rocks between the tides.
