Do you like a short, entertaining, realistic story with a lesson that's there to find,
or the fantastical, mythical, happy ever after with cultural value in the lines
Do you like a story set in the real world with ordinary folk like you and me,
or an allegory, fairy tale, of witches, dragons, elves, talking animals, and strange creatures coming out of the sea
Maybe you like a parable or fable that you need to think about,
and get the morals in the lines, or one that begins 'once upon a time' with a happy ending, where there is no doubt.
For whether it's the Good Samaritan, Narnia or Little Red Riding Hood,
keep reading them to your children and childrens children, for they'll think and smile, dream, wonder, and help to make them good.
