Ode To a Mouse

Please don't read this if you are an animal lover or squeamish.

Ode to a Mouse

For Earl Grey one of our cats March 1998. Sketch Harry Cottey.

He attacks it, bites and batters it,

Before quickly boring with it,

Then chews claws and chomps on it….

Keeping an eye on it.

He guards, growls and gorges himself over it,

Before hiding it, then jumping on it.

He’s jealous with it, loves it,

But then he leaves it,

He maws it and paws it,

Pounces and plays with it.

Now he presents it,

Before running off with it and rips it…

He sits with it, sits on it, stares at it,

Stomps on it, stalks and surprises it.

He teases, tosses and torments it,

Then treads all over it,

Finally tiring of it,

He executes it.

Watching and waiting…

Waiting for it to exhale no more,

He then eats it
